India, Cyprus Review 2025-2029 Defense and Trade Collaboration Plan

During a recent meeting in New Delhi, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos reviewed the ambitious India-Cyprus Joint Action Plan for 2025-2029, which encompasses cooperation in defense, trade, and technology. This plan builds upon discussions held during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Cyprus in June 2025, aiming to enhance strategic partnerships between the two nations. Kombos expressed gratitude for India’s unwavering support regarding the Cyprus issue and endorsed India’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism, emphasizing that effective counter-terrorism measures should address both perpetrators and their supporters. The meeting, which marked the first ministerial visit from Cyprus to India in 14 years, underscored the deepening ties between the two countries, particularly as Cyprus prepares to assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026. This collaboration is expected to strengthen India-EU relations, advancing mutual interests and regional stability. The discussions reflect a shared commitment not only to economic cooperation but also to addressing key geopolitical challenges, reinforcing India’s role as a significant ally in the Mediterranean region and beyond.
