IAF to showcase aerial display over Statue of Unity on Unity Day.
On October 31, the Indian Air Force (IAF) will commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) with a spectacular air display over the Statue of Unity in Kevadiya, Gujarat, honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary. The event will feature the renowned Suryakiran Aerobatic Team performing intricate aerial formations painted in the Indian Tricolour, alongside a ceremonial flower petal drop by IAF helicopters, symbolizing national pride and unity. Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that starting this year, a grand annual parade will take place at Ekta Nagar to pay tribute to Patel’s pivotal role in uniting India post-independence, similar to the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi. This year’s celebration will also include the “Run for Unity” initiative across the nation, culminating in the Unity Pledge, emphasizing the commitment to national integrity. The significance of these events lies in reinforcing collective national identity and honoring the legacy of a leader who played a crucial role in shaping modern India. This annual observance not only serves as a reminder of Patel’s contributions but also as a platform to promote unity in diversity, a cornerstone of India’s ethos, thus fostering national pride and cooperation among citizens.
