Maoist suspect linked to Kokrajhar IED blast killed in police encounter.

In a significant development, a suspected Maoist operative, Apil Murmu alias Rohit Murmu, was killed in an encounter with police in Kokrajhar, Assam. Murmu was reportedly linked to insurgent activities in Assam and Jharkhand and was believed to be involved in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast on a railway track in Kokrajhar, as well as a train blast in Jharkhand in October 2024. This encounter underscores the ongoing challenges posed by Maoist insurgency in the region, highlighting the Indian security forces’ commitment to countering such threats effectively.
