HAL to Launch First HTT-40 Trainer Production Variant Next Month
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is set to roll out the first production variant of the Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40 (HTT-40) next month from its Nashik plant, marking a significant advancement in India’s indigenous aircraft manufacturing capabilities. This aircraft, part of a ₹6,800 crore contract for 70 units, will enhance the Indian Air Force’s pilot training program by replacing aging training aircraft. The HTT-40 features modern avionics and improved safety, and its production will bolster India’s aerospace ecosystem with over 60% indigenous content, reinforcing HAL’s strategic role in both combat and training aircraft sectors. This initiative underscores India’s growing self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
