Indonesia shows interest in BrahMos as India secures new defense pacts.
India’s position as a defense exporter has been significantly enhanced with the announcement from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh regarding new BrahMos missile contracts valued at approximately Rs 4,000 crore ($455 million) with two undisclosed countries. The interest in the BrahMos system, which has gained notoriety following its successful use during “Operation Sindoor,” is reportedly attracting attention from multiple nations, with Indonesia emerging as a potential buyer. Speculations suggest a $450 million deal involving technology transfer for local production is in discussions, driven by regional tensions due to China’s activities. This development underscores India’s commitment to the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative and highlights the strategic importance of enhancing regional defense capabilities through advanced indigenous systems, reinforcing India’s role in the global defense market.
