India should produce rare materials for defense and aerospace, says Defence Minister.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the necessity for India to produce rare materials critical for defense and aerospace during the inauguration of a Titanium and Superalloy Materials Plant at PTC Industries in Lucknow. He highlighted the country’s previous dependence on foreign nations for advanced materials, asserting that this new facility positions India among a select group capable of independently manufacturing essential components for fighter jets, missiles, and satellites. Singh underscored that this initiative marks a significant shift from the “Make-in-India” approach to a comprehensive “Design, Develop, and Deliver in India” strategy, aiming to enhance India’s technological sovereignty. Furthermore, he noted the economic potential this complex brings, promising job creation and supporting Uttar Pradesh’s growth as a vital industrial hub. This development is pivotal for India’s self-reliance in defense capabilities.
