DRDO to Launch Advanced Armoured Platforms for Enhanced Army Mobility
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is set to unveil its Advanced Armoured Platforms (AAP), comprising both wheeled and tracked infantry combat vehicles (ICVs), later this month. Developed in collaboration with Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Bharat Forge, these vehicles promise enhanced battlefield mobility and adaptability for the Indian Army’s diverse operational environments. With modular designs featuring a remote-controlled turret and advanced protection systems, the AAP vehicles aim to replace legacy BMP-2s, addressing shortcomings revealed during recent user trials. This initiative aligns with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, emphasizing indigenous production and the potential for export to allies. The rollout signifies a significant leap toward modernizing India’s mechanized warfare capabilities, enhancing response times and operational readiness in contested zones.
