IIT Delhi and Indian Navy partner to enhance warship crew welfare.
The Indian Navy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to establish a research and design center aimed at enhancing the Quality of Life (QoL) aboard naval vessels. This partnership focuses on analyzing existing ship designs and developing new interventions to improve ergonomics, comfort, and safety, ensuring that Indian warships not only excel in combat capabilities but also prioritize crew welfare. Rear Admiral Arvind Rawal emphasized the initiative’s significance in advancing naval architecture through a scientific approach by incorporating ergonomics and human factors into design processes. This collaboration reflects a strategic move to bolster the Indian Navy’s operational efficiency and crew satisfaction, ultimately contributing to a more capable maritime force.
