India Expands Private Sector Role in Missile Production for Enhanced Defense Readiness

India is advancing its defense capabilities by expanding private sector involvement in missile production, aiming to enhance rapid wartime surge capacity. Following the successful integration of private firms in manufacturing the Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher, the Ministry of Defence is poised to authorize private participation in producing sub-sonic cruise missiles and surface-to-air missile systems. This strategic shift towards a collaborative production model is designed to address logistical challenges and production bottlenecks, enabling quick replenishment during conflicts. By bolstering indigenous manufacturing and reducing reliance on foreign suppliers, this initiative is crucial for enhancing India’s military readiness amidst a dynamic regional security landscape, positioning private industry as a vital component of national defense.
