DRDO partners with private sector for indigenous fighter aircraft ignitors.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has initiated a project under its Technology Development Fund (TDF) program to create indigenous platinum-rhodium catalytic ignitors for fighter aircraft afterburners, marking a significant step towards self-reliance in aerospace technology. This initiative aims to reduce India’s dependence on costly imported components and enhance the performance and safety of the Indian Air Force’s fleet, including the Su-30MKI and Rafale jets. By fostering collaboration with private sector players, the project seeks to address critical supply chain vulnerabilities while ensuring compliance with international aerospace standards. Ultimately, this development not only fortifies India’s defense capabilities but also aligns with the larger Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, enhancing national security amidst geopolitical uncertainties.
