India and Philippines Forge New Agreements to Deepen Economic and Technological Ties

India and the Philippines have taken decisive steps to deepen their economic partnership with the signing of 14 agreements and memorandums of understanding, covering key sectors like trade, digital technology, tourism, and space cooperation. Leaders initiated negotiations for a Preferential Trade Agreement and agreed to boost two-way investments, targeting innovation, agribusiness, digital infrastructure, and renewable energy. With bilateral trade reaching $3.3 billion in 2024-25, both countries announced plans to resolve market access issues and enhance integration into global supply chains, while making it easier for citizens to engage in tourism and business—including the introduction of an e-tourist visa for Filipinos. Today’s talks also spotlighted collaboration in emerging fields like fintech, biotechnology, and start-ups, reflecting a shared resolve to future-proof economic and technological relations and support mutual growth.
