IAF's Flying Instructor's School trains 59 aviators, enhancing defense and international cooperation.

The Indian Air Force’s Flying Instructor’s School (FIS) at Air Force Station Tambaram, Chennai, successfully trained 59 aviators, including personnel from the Indian Armed Forces and allied nations, who earned the Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) insignia. This rigorous 22-week course involved over 200 hours of ground training and ten phases of flying, highlighting the FIS’s commitment to producing skilled instructors capable of meeting evolving operational needs. Established in 1948, the FIS has become a respected institution in military aviation training, also supporting vital peacetime operations like Search and Rescue and Human Assistance and Disaster Relief. This initiative not only strengthens India’s defense capabilities but also enhances international military cooperation.
