UK PM Starmer announces more British universities to open in India.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that the University of Lancaster and the University of Surrey will establish campuses in India, bringing the total number of British institutions setting up offshore campuses in the country to nine. This development occurred during Starmer’s two-day visit to India, where he was accompanied by 125 prominent UK business leaders and educators. Earlier this year, the University of Southampton opened a campus in Delhi, with several other universities, including the University of York and University of Bristol, set to follow suit. This initiative signifies strengthening educational ties and collaboration between the UK and India, fostering a mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge, skills, and cultural understanding, which may also enhance India’s position as a global education hub.
