Indian Army introduces tent homestays near China border to enhance security and promote local habitation.
In a strategic move to enhance national security and stimulate local economies, the Indian Army has launched tent-based homestays in Garbyang, Uttarakhand, a border village near China and Nepal. This initiative aims to promote permanent habitation in sensitive areas, thereby providing logistical and intelligence support to the armed forces while simultaneously combating demographic decline. The facilities, handed over to the local village committee for management, signify a commitment to local entrepreneurship and community engagement. Led by Lieutenant General D.G. Mishra, this project underscores the importance of a settled population in border regions for both security and socio-economic revitalization, marking a progressive step in India’s comprehensive defense strategy.
