Prime Tooling to test long-range missile engine for Barak series by 2026.

Bengaluru-based Prime Toolings is set to test an advanced long-range missile engine on the Barak missile series by February 2026, significantly enhancing India’s indigenous defense capabilities. The engine, designed for 400 to 600 kilometers and a top speed of Mach 2, aims to transform the Barak missile series, currently a key component of India’s air defense, into a long-range interceptor. This development follows Prime Toolings’ earlier milestones in missile propulsion, particularly their innovative Rotating Detonation Engine (RDE). By upgrading the Barak missile with this technology, India is poised to strengthen its tactical edge in modern aerial warfare and better counter evolving threats in the region, aligning with its strategic goals for self-reliance in defense technology.
