Pakistan and PoK protesters reach agreement to end violent unrest.

The Pakistani federal government and protesters in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) have reached an agreement to end violent demonstrations that erupted after failed negotiations, resulting in at least 10 fatalities. The accord, comprising 25 points, includes measures such as financial compensation for victims’ families, enhancement of local educational facilities, and improvements in healthcare and infrastructure. A high-powered committee will oversee the implementation of this agreement. The unrest underscores the persistent discontent within PoK regarding governance and development issues, reflecting wider instability in Pakistan, which could further complicate regional security dynamics and India-Pakistan relations. The resolution, while a temporary relief, highlights the need for long-term solutions to address grievances in the region.
