India Enhances Trade and Digital Ties with Central America
India is strengthening its ties with the Central American Integration System (SICA) countries through enhanced trade and digital payment initiatives, as emphasized by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. He highlighted the growing interest of Indian companies in sectors like agriculture, renewable energy, and IT, while proposing the extension of India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) to these nations to foster financial inclusion. The engagement has grown significantly over the past decade, and structured dialogues aim to address shared challenges in development and climate change. Jaishankar’s discussions at the G20 and UN further underscore India’s commitment to global stability and collective action against terrorism, positioning SICA as a crucial partner in India’s strategy for Latin America and the Caribbean.
