Dvipa Defence is advancing India’s indigenous small arms capabilities with the development of the Ugram rifle series, designed in collaboration with DRDO’s ARDE to meet the Indian Army’s requirements. This modular, lightweight rifle features a long-stroke gas piston system and is tailored for counter-terrorism operations. With a focus on reducing reliance on foreign imports, the project is supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology and is currently undergoing field trials with the Border Security Force. If successful, the Ugram rifles could significantly enhance operational readiness and self-sufficiency in India’s defense manufacturing, marking a notable step towards modernization and technological autonomy in military resources.
