HAL Receives DIRCM Proposals from Elbit and Elettronica for LCH
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has received proposals from Israel’s Elbit Systems and Italy’s Elettronica S.p.A. for the development of a Directed Infrared Counter Measure (DIRCM) system aimed at enhancing the survivability of India’s indigenous Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand. This initiative, part of the Make in India program, reflects India’s commitment to modernizing its defense capabilities and reducing import dependency. The DIRCM is crucial for countering threats from infrared-guided missiles, particularly in high-altitude combat zones. By engaging international partners, HAL seeks to leverage advanced technologies and expertise while maintaining intellectual property rights, thereby strengthening India’s position in the global defense landscape and promoting self-reliance in electronic warfare systems.
