Cochin Shipyard partners with HD Korea to boost India's shipbuilding capabilities.

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has signed a memorandum of understanding with HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering to enhance India’s shipbuilding capabilities, aligning with national initiatives like Maritime India Vision 2030. This strategic partnership aims to utilize CSL’s infrastructure and expertise alongside HD Korea’s technology to build large vessels, including Suezmax tankers, at CSL’s new 310-meter dry dock, which has the capacity to construct six vessels annually. Additionally, CSL plans a greenfield investment of approximately Rs 15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu to establish a modern shipyard, expected to create around 10,000 jobs. This initiative is poised to position India as a global shipbuilding hub, significantly boosting employment in various sectors and reinforcing India’s maritime strength.
