Godrej Delivers First Kaveri Derivative Engine, Boosting Indigenous Defense Capabilities
In a significant advancement for India’s indigenous aerospace capability, Godrej Aerospace has delivered the first serial production Kaveri Derivative Engine (D-1) to the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE). This milestone, part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, reflects the collaborative efforts of major Indian industry players, including HAL and Tata, aimed at reducing reliance on foreign technology. The D-1 engine, designed for modularity, will undergo extensive testing to validate its performance for defense applications, including potential use in next-generation aircraft like the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). This development underscores India’s growing expertise in aero-engine technology and enhances its strategic autonomy in defense capabilities.
