Soldier injured in Udhampur encounter with terrorists; later dies.

An encounter between security forces and terrorists occurred in the Seoj Dhar area of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, on September 19, 2025, resulting in the injury of an Indian Army soldier who later succumbed to his injuries. The operation was initiated by a joint team of the Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police after intelligence indicated terrorist presence in the region. Following the initial contact, terrorists opened fire, leading to intense firefights. The area was swiftly cordoned off and a significant search operation resumed the following day, with reinforcements deployed, including drones and sniffer dogs, to locate the two to three terrorists believed to be hiding in the dense forest terrain. Although no fresh contact with the terrorists was established during subsequent combing operations, the Indian security forces remain committed to neutralizing the threat, emphasizing their resolve in combating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the Indian Army and security forces in maintaining stability in the region while highlighting their proactive strategies and readiness to respond to threats posed by terrorist groups.
