Tejas Mk1A to be Armed with Meteor Missile, Enhancing IAF Capability

In a pivotal advancement for India’s defense capabilities, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has confirmed that the Tejas Mark 1A will be equipped with the Meteor missile, one of the world’s leading Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missiles (BVRAAM). This integration, set to occur with the second batch of aircraft, will be complemented by the indigenous Uttam AESA radar, enhancing situational awareness and combat efficacy. The Meteor’s long-range capabilities will significantly bolster the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) ability to counter modern aerial threats. This development underscores India’s commitment to self-reliance in defense technology and the strengthening of indigenous manufacturing, while also reflecting a growing collaboration with international defense partners like MBDA, aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
