Indian Navy's P8i fleet surpasses 50,000 flight hours milestone
The Indian Navy’s P8i fleet, based at INS Rajali, has achieved a significant milestone by completing over 50,000 flying hours without incident, showcasing its capabilities in maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare. This Boeing Poseidon aircraft is crucial for safeguarding India’s maritime interests in the Indian Ocean Region, employing advanced sensors and tactics to detect submarines. Commodore RS Vasan (Retd) praised this achievement, noting its strategic importance, especially post-Galwan, as India considers acquiring six additional aircraft for enhanced operational reach. Future deployments may include basing some aircraft in the Andaman Islands to bolster surveillance capabilities in the region.
