India to finalize major defense deals for Rafale, P-8I, Tejas.
India is poised for a significant defense boost with the imminent finalization of major defense deals, including the acquisition of 114 Rafale fighter jets to address the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) shortfall as it retires MiG-21s. Additionally, the Indian Navy is finalizing the acquisition of six P-8I surveillance aircraft, while a deal for 113 F-404 engines from GE Aerospace will support 97 LCA Tejas Mk1A fighters, with HAL set to deliver the first two Tejas soon. This proactive approach in defense procurement underscores India’s commitment to modernizing its military capabilities amid escalating regional security challenges.
