HAL Delivers 38 of 40 TEJAS MK-1 Jets Amid Supply Challenges
HAL has successfully delivered 38 out of 40 TEJAS MK-1 jets, overcoming significant delays caused by the supply of General Electric F404 engines. These deliveries, completed around August 2023, reflect HAL’s progress despite logistical challenges. With the Nashik production line set to enhance output from 2025, HAL aims to boost TEJAS production to 1,630 aircraft annually, driven by increased engine availability. Additionally, the upcoming TEJAS MK-1A variant boasts 43 improvements, including advanced radar and indigenous weapon systems, ensuring India’s defense capabilities continue to strengthen amid ongoing advancements in domestic aviation manufacturing.
