Indian Army to Procure 1,800 AI-Enhanced FRCV Tanks by 2030

The Indian Army is set to procure approximately 1,800 advanced AI-powered Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCVs) to replace the aging T-72 tanks, enhancing its combat capabilities significantly. This ambitious Project Ranjeet aims for a total cost of 57,000 to 60,000 crore, with initial inductees expected by 2030. Key features include integration with UAVs and satellite systems for real-time intelligence, advanced fire control systems, and robust defenses against modern threats. This initiative aligns with India’s goal of self-reliance in defense, bolstered by the DRDO’s involvement and fostering competition among public and private sectors, ensuring a technologically superior and effective armored platform.
