PM Modi and Japan's Governors Discuss Strategic Collaboration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met 16 Japanese governors in Tokyo on August 30, 2025, urging deeper state–prefecture partnerships to boost cooperation in manufacturing, next‑generation infrastructure, startups, SMEs, tourism, and cultural links under the State‑Prefecture Partnership Initiative launched at the 15th India‑Japan Annual Summit a day earlier. The interaction followed Modi’s bilateral talks with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, where both sides unveiled a 10‑year roadmap and a goal to mobilize JPY 10 trillion investment into India, alongside plans for economic security, digital partnership 2.0, AI cooperation, and large‑scale human resource exchanges over the next five years. Modi and Ishiba also traveled to Sendai and visited Tokyo Electron, underscoring ties in semiconductors and supply‑chain resilience.
