Congress Claims India is Being Coerced into Unfavorable Ties with China

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visits to Japan and China have prompted criticism from the Congress party, which argues that India is being coerced into normalizing ties with China under unfavorable terms, particularly amid a downturn in Indo-US relations. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh emphasized that the Prime Minister’s past statements weakened India’s negotiating stance and accused him of neglecting pressing issues in Manipur. Nevertheless, Modi aims to strengthen regional cooperation and bilateral relations during his meetings, including with President Xi Jinping, signaling India’s commitment to navigating complex geopolitical dynamics while pursuing national interests.
