IAF Chief: Tejas LCA Replaces MiG-21, Enhances Combat and Training

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is transitioning from the ageing MiG-21 fleet to the indigenously developed Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), which features modern technology and multi-role capabilities. Air Chief Marshal AP Singh highlighted Tejas’s advanced systems, including a fly-by-wire setup and enhanced weaponry, emphasizing its potential as both a combat aircraft and a training platform. With over 40 Tejas Mk-1s already inducted and plans for further variants, this shift not only aims to improve operational efficiency but also showcases India’s growing defense production capabilities, driven by both public and private sector innovation. Tejas symbolizes a new era for the IAF, reinforcing India’s strategic autonomy in defense.
