DRDO Enhances India's BMD with AD-2 Interceptor Fabrication

India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is advancing its ballistic missile defense capabilities with the fabrication of the AD-2 interceptor, crucial for the Phase-II Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) program. The AD-2, designed to intercept threats outside the atmosphere and optimized for intermediate-range ballistic missiles, will undergo trials in 2026. This development strengthens India’s multi-layered defense against rising threats from Pakistan and China, notably their ballistic and hypersonic missiles. Additionally, DRDO is planning a Phase-III BMD program to tackle advanced threats, highlighting India’s commitment to enhancing its defense infrastructure and strategic deterrence capabilities in a volatile regional landscape.
