DRDO successfully tests Integrated Air Defence Weapon System

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted its maiden flight-tests of the Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) off the coast of Odisha on August 23, 2025. This multi-layered air defence system comprises indigenous Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missiles (QRSAM), Advanced Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles, and a high-power laser-based Directed Energy Weapon (DEW). The tests successfully engaged and destroyed three aerial targets, showcasing India’s enhanced aerial threat response capabilities. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh commended the collaborative efforts of DRDO, the Armed Forces, and the industry, emphasizing that IADWS significantly strengthens national security against potential aerial threats.
