INS Aridhaman, India's 3rd nuclear SSBN, set for 2025 induction
India’s strategic defense capabilities are set to strengthen with the upcoming induction of INS Aridhaman, its third nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, anticipated by the end of 2025. The 7,000-tonne submarine, developed under the Advanced Technology Vessel project, features significant upgrades, including enhanced firepower with eight vertical launch tubes and indigenous technology comprising 70% of its content. Its operational range and stealth capabilities make it crucial for India’s no-first-use nuclear policy, particularly in countering regional threats posed by China’s expanding naval strength and Pakistan’s submarine acquisitions. INS Aridhaman reinforces India’s second-strike capability, ensuring national security and stability in the Indian Ocean Region.
