The Indian Air Force (IAF) is enhancing its command and control capabilities by equipping Air Battle Managers with AI-based Decision Support Tools (DSTs), aimed at improving operational efficiency and situational awareness. This initiative is part of the IAF’s strategy to modernize air combat operations and maintain a strategic advantage in a changing geopolitical landscape. The AI-DSTs will streamline the Find, Fix, Track, Target, Engage, and Assess kill chain, integrating with the indigenously developed Integrated Air Command and Control System. By automating routine data analysis and providing tactical recommendations, these tools will significantly reduce cognitive load on ABMs, ultimately enabling quicker and more precise responses in high-pressure scenarios.
