AMCA Enhances A2A and A2G Capabilities with Advanced Sensors

India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) has revealed advanced sensor upgrades, including an Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS) for enhanced air-to-ground capabilities and an Infrared Search and Track (IRST) system for air-to-air roles. These enhancements position the AMCA as a versatile fifth-generation fighter, crucial for countering threats from China’s J-20 and Pakistan’s growing air capabilities. The integration of a Distributed Aperture System (DAS) further improves situational awareness, ensuring the IAF can dominate in complex security environments. With prototype construction approved and a first flight expected by 2027-28, the AMCA reflects India’s commitment to developing cutting-edge defense technologies essential for national security.
