India Expands Energy Infrastructure for Self-Reliance: Puri
India, under Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, is enhancing its energy security by expanding its infrastructure and pursuing self-reliance, having made 172 oil and gas discoveries since 2015, including promising findings in the Andaman ultra-deepwater region. This campaign validates an active petroleum system akin to those in Myanmar, with ONGC and Oil India Ltd reporting substantial reserves. Prime Minister Modi’s vision has propelled investments exceeding $1.3 billion in oil exploration, contributing to significant ethanol blending with petrol, yielding substantial foreign exchange savings and reduced CO2 emissions, thereby benefiting both energy security and agricultural stakeholders.
