Parliament to Discuss Shubhanshu Shukla's Space Mission Impact
The Indian Parliament will hold a special session on August 18, 2025, to discuss the impact of Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s landmark mission aboard the International Space Station, following his return to Delhi on August 17. Shukla, the second Indian to visit space and selected through the Gaganyaan program, spent 18 days on the ISS as part of the NASA-SpaceX Axiom-4 mission, conducting experiments critical for India’s own human spaceflight goals. His journey, marked by national celebrations and addressed by President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi, is viewed as a significant milestone for the Gaganyaan mission and the planned Bharatiya Antariksh Station, reinforcing India’s ambitions for space self-reliance and development by 2047.
