MHA Affirms Readiness for Dialogue with Ladakh Groups Despite Protests

The Union Home Ministry has reiterated its openness to dialogue with the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) regarding issues in Ladakh, despite LAB’s decision to suspend talks until a conducive atmosphere is established following violent protests. The Ministry expressed confidence that ongoing discussions could lead to positive outcomes, citing previous successes such as increased reservations for Scheduled Tribes and women’s representation in local governance. The recent unrest, which resulted in four fatalities and numerous injuries during protests advocating for statehood and constitutional protections, underscores the urgency of addressing local grievances. The government’s willingness to engage collaboratively reflects a strategic approach to maintaining stability in a geopolitically significant region.
