IAF's fewer than 50 strikes prompted Pakistan to seek peace: Tiwari
In a recent address at the NDTV Defence Summit, Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari of the Indian Air Force (IAF) revealed that fewer than 50 weapons were fired during Operation Sindoor, resulting in a decisive call for conflict cessation from Pakistan after the strikes on May 10. Tiwari highlighted that the IAF achieved “complete domination” over the Pakistani military, a feat not accomplished since the 1971 war. The operation, initiated in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, involved careful planning and selection of targets, where the IAF managed to destroy critical terrorist infrastructure with precision while avoiding collateral damage. He emphasized that the operation’s success demonstrated the effectiveness of the IAF’s strategic planning and execution capabilities. Tiwari also noted that the mission’s objectives were to deliver a strong message and deter future attacks, accompanied by a readiness for potential escalation into a conventional conflict. Additionally, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh underscored the growing importance of air defense capabilities in contemporary warfare, hinting at the Sudarshan Chakra mission as a future game-changer. Overall, the operation not only affirmed India’s military readiness but also signaled a robust response to cross-border terrorism, reinforcing India’s strategic position in the region amid ongoing tensions with Pakistan.
