Education Wings of Army, Navy, IAF Merged; 3 Joint Stations Approved
The Indian armed forces have taken a significant step towards greater integration and operational efficiency by merging the education branches of the Army, Navy, and Air Force into a unified Tri-Service Education Corps. This landmark decision, announced on September 17, 2025, during the final day of the Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) 2025 in Kolkata, aims to streamline training and foster stronger jointness among the services. Alongside this, the establishment of three new Joint Military Stations on the mainland was approved, allowing shared facilities and further enhancing coordination across the three services. These measures reflect the ongoing focus on jointness emphasized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, aiming to modernize and reform India’s armed forces. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan highlighted the importance of these reforms as part of the country’s broader strategy to meet future security challenges through improved interoperability and a technology-led approach to defense operations. The CCC 2025 also included discussions on space, cyber, special operations, and other modern warfare domains, reinforcing India’s commitment to a cohesive and formidable military structure.
