India, Russia Discuss Local Production of BrahMos Ramjet Engines
India and Russia are in talks to manufacture ramjet engines for the BrahMos and BrahMos-NG missiles in Uttar Pradesh, enhancing India’s defense self-reliance. This initiative aims to reduce dependency on imported components and boost export capabilities, following the success of the BrahMos missile program. The new facility, which will produce 80-100 BrahMos missiles annually, represents a significant stride in indigenizing defense technology, including the development of a domestic liquid-fueled ramjet engine. The BrahMos-NG, a lighter variant, will enhance operational flexibility and maintain high-speed performance, showcasing the strengthening defense collaboration between India and Russia and supporting India’s strategic objectives.
